Varun Dhawan has finally opened up about stepping into one of the most emotionally transformative roles of his life—becoming a father. In a recent interview with ETimes, the actor got candid about navigating the early stages of fatherhood and admitted that he’s still figuring things out.

“I’m still figuring it out. Like how responsible I have to be, or how much of a kid I can still be or can be… I think men tend to go through this,” Varun said, reflecting on the emotional balancing act of being both a father and himself. He didn’t hold back in giving credit to his wife, Natasha Dalal, for holding things together in the initial months. “Right now, Natasha is doing everything, and I have to give her credit. The woman does practically everything initially, and the man then comes in and becomes useful.”
For Varun, the joy of being a father is rooted in the simple pleasures. “I’m just enjoying playing with her. Being a dad is a lot of fun right now, and every day I’m trying to be a better dad… I don’t think I’m there yet,” he said. In a light-hearted confession, he added, “I do watch TV at a really low volume now, else my wife will throw me out of the house.”
This isn’t the first time Varun has spoken emotionally about his journey into parenthood. In an earlier conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the Bhediya star had shared his deeper, more protective instincts as a new father. “I think when any individual, any man, becomes a parent, for the mother it is a different experience; I feel she becomes a tigress; that moment only something happens,” he explained.
“But, as a man, I’d say that when we become parents, for some reason, you feel protection towards your daughter. I am sure you feel for sons also but towards the daughter… If anyone causes even so much (little) harm to her, I’d kill them. I am dead serious when I say that. Literally, I’d kill them.”
With these heartfelt and unfiltered admissions, Varun Dhawan is showing fans a new, emotionally raw side of himself—one that is not only embracing fatherhood but also evolving with it.
