Actor and IIT Delhi alumnus Amol Parashar has partnered with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) in Mumbai to help raise awareness about the upcoming International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) 2025, which will be hosted by India from August 11 to 21.

The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) is one of the leading global science competitions for school students, with this year’s edition set to welcome participants from 64 countries. Amol Parashar’s visit aimed to inspire greater interest in space science and research among young learners.
During the visit, Amol interacted with students and faculty, explored the labs, and joined in on conversations around space, galaxies, and scientific curiosity.
He later shared, “It was a fun and eye-opening day. I had a great time chatting with the students about everything from space-time to the moon to colliding galaxies. Their curiosity was infectious. It also made me miss my own engineering college days.”
The team at HBCSE, led by its Director Professor Arnab Bhattacharya, hosted the session and took Amol through the workings of the Centre and the preparation behind IOAA 2025.
An alumnus of IIT Delhi with an impressive rank of 238, Amol has long balanced his academic roots with a career in the arts. He has earned recognition through iconic performances in projects like TVF Tripling, Sardar Udham, and more recently Kull and Gram Chikitsalay, which have both topped viewership charts this year.
While Amol Parashar is widely appreciated for his work on screen, he also holds a unique place among students and members of the academic community. Known for blending creativity with a strong academic background, his visit to HBCSE resonated with many young science enthusiasts.
India’s student team is set to compete with some of the brightest young minds from around the world at IOAA 2025. The interaction was part of a broader initiative to generate awareness and excitement ahead of the event, while also encouraging greater interest in space science among school students.
