Actor-turned-author Huma Qureshi has embarked on a new creative chapter with the launch of her debut novel Zeba: An Accidental Superhero, and she chose the picturesque kingdom of Bhutan as the perfect backdrop for her book’s international debut. The actress attended the Drukyul Literature and Arts Festival, which kicked off on August 2, to present her empowering story of mysticism, self-discovery, and hidden strength.

But the journey wasn’t all just literature and landscapes—it came with an unexpected twist of adventure, or as Huma put it herself, “#RoosterAttack.”

From Literary Panels to Unexpected Poultry Encounters

On August 4, Huma shared a delightful set of photos on Instagram capturing her time in Bhutan. The post, titled “Some beautiful memories.. esp number 5,” offered a vibrant peek into her cultural immersion. Whether it was visiting the Simply Bhutan Museum, cooking local dishes, or promoting her book at the festival, Huma seemed to be soaking in every moment.

However, one “core memory” stole the show: her cheeky encounter with a rooster at Punakha Dzong. In her words: “My core memory from this trip… being attacked by a rooster in Punakha Dzong. It’s my fault—I was trying to be cheeky with him in his home.”

She later doubled down on the humor by sharing an Instagram Story of her cracked iPhone, captioned: “Aftermath of Bhutan” with the hashtag #roosterattack—suggesting that her phone became collateral damage during the feathery face-off.

Zeba, Huma’s debut novel, follows the story of a seemingly ordinary woman who discovers she possesses supernatural abilities. The tale, set against themes of identity and empowerment, has already received praise for its strong female lead and approachable narrative style. With Bhutan as her first international stop, Huma is currently on a seven-day cultural and literary tour to promote the book.
