Barkha Singh was recently seen in two web shows Criminal Justice: A Family Matter, which was the fourth season of the series, and Lafangey. Last year, she was also in the news for playing Vikrant Massey’s love interest in The Sabarmati Report. In a recent exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, the actress spoke about her experience with Vikrant and why she eagerly came on board the film.
EXCLUSIVE: “Vikrant Massey is one of the finest actors of our generation,” shares Barkha Singh
“He is one of the finest actors of our generation,” said Barkha. “Very honestly. I am not saying this because he has been my co-actor. In fact, when I was offered The Sabarmati Report, I didn’t give an audition or anything as it was a cameo but a special appearance. I didn’t ask any questions. I said, ‘I want to work with Vikrant. I want to share the screen space with him. As long as you are not giving me the role of her sister or friend, I will do even if it’s a small role’. Later, they also gave me a song also in the film.”
Barkha initially decided to maintain some distance from Vikrant during the shoot of The Sabarmati Report. “Vikrant, on screen, is a phenomenal actor. Off screen also he is very chatty and very sweet since the first scene on day one. I, obviously, had seen his work, so I didn’t know if I should be very friendly with him. So, after doing ‘hi, hello’, I was maintaining my distance; I didn’t want to be over-friendly. But he made the effort to make me feel comfortable saying, ‘Aana baith na, kahan udhar baithi hai?’ and he would talk,” she said.
One of the major memories for Barkha while shooting The Sabarmati Report was an old Maruti 800 car, which was an important part of the shoot. The car made her nostalgic about her growing up days in the 1990s. “Our generation, which is born in the 90s, learnt driving on Maurti 800. Those who were very rich had Alto, else others had Maruti 800 (laughs),” she said.
About her upcoming projects, Barkha shared, “I am reading a few scripts as I have got offers after these two releases (Criminal Justice and Lafangey), for which I am very happy about. I have already shot one show but it hasn’t been announced. I hope it comes soon because you will see me in a very different light in that. It’s a very serious show.”
