Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has revived the essence of classic romantic storytelling in Hindi cinema through its stunning visuals and heartfelt music. One standout track from the film is ‘Humsafar’, composed and sung by Sachet-Parampara, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. In a recent video released by Yash Raj Films, the makers share insights into the creation of this soulful song.

While talking about the making of Saiyaara’s ‘Humsafar’ song, Mohit Suri shared how the collaboration with composer duo Sachet-Parampara came to be. “Adi sir had asked me earlier, ‘Have you ever worked with Sachet–Parampara?’ I said, ‘No sir, I haven’t.’ He said, ‘Then you do this with them.’ It was surprising, because even he hadn’t worked with them before but just by watching their work and mine, he understood that we would really gel well together.”

Talking about the song, Parampara said, “We’ll call it ‘Humsafar’.” Adding to that, Mohit Suri explained the deeper meaning behind the title: “‘Humsafar’ means the one you journey with and you find yourself journeying with someone in many ways, whether it’s musical or something else. It’s that stage in a relationship before you actually say something, when you’re not expressing it in words, but you’re already feeling it deeply. ‘Humsafar’ beautifully captures that phase.”

Reflecting on the collaboration, Sachet shared, “We’ve always really wanted to work with Mohit sir. He had once even messaged us saying that our vibes match really well, and he felt that someday in the future, we would definitely collaborate. This is our first time working with YRF as well, and we’re really happy about it.”

Mohit Suri also spoke about his experience of working with the composer duo, saying, “When I met Sachet and Parampara, the first thing I witnessed was that they were in such a sync where one used to finish and the other used to start. So, I wanted to give the feeling that how a song is made. Like from a person singing it and someone writing it on the spot, catching the meter, motivating the person to get the emotion.”

Mohit Suri aimed to capture the emotions and thought processes of both the male and female characters, ensuring the girl’s perspective was also represented. Sachet shared that they began by crafting melodies, and the song naturally took shape from there.

Talking about the emotional balance in the song, Sachet and Parampara said, “In this song, you’ll notice the dynamic between the male and female energies—both are driven by intense passion. The boy’s passion has a hint of aggression, while the girl brings a sense of calm and composure. You’ll see that reflected in the melody as well, where both energies complement each other beautifully.”

Sharing his thoughts on the duo’s chemistry, Mohit said, “Sachet and Parampara work together as a couple. They have a sync, which is a natural process of two musicians. When Sachet holds a ‘sur’, looking at Parampara, looking into her eyes, he finds a process of approval. So Humsafar, with the title, with the kind of camaraderie that they have, with the relationship they share, I think just became almost a biopic. It was them working together, and that’s what the situation in the film also is.”

Reflecting on the emotional impact of seeing the final video, Parampara said, “I would just say that when the song came back after the shoot and we watched the video for the first time, we felt this was one of our best-shot songs.” Sachet added, “I remember—she actually started crying a little. Her eyes welled up with tears, and we just said thank you so much.”
