Tara Sutaria is ready to turn a new page – one where artistic fulfillment takes priority over formulaic stardom. In a heartfelt segment on The Ranveer Show, the actor and singer opened up about how her 2023 film Apurva proved to be a life-changing experience, both creatively and personally.

“I did this movie, Apurva. I feel like that film changed my life, not only because of the people that I worked with on that picture, but also because a lot of realizations happened to me during the filming of that movie and the release and things like that,” she shared. “Yes, it sounds crazy, but for a lot of reasons, I spent a lot of time with myself on that film and enjoyed it thoroughly.”
Calling it “one of the most successful films” in her filmography, Tara revealed how the process helped her see her own aspirations with new clarity. “I realized after I finished that film, that something just snapped inside me, and I just said, okay, I need to know that I’ve done this… because it was my dream to do a movie like that—and not just a film where, you know, I’m looking good, or I’m with so and so actor.”
That epiphany, she says, has helped her reshape her goals going forward. “I realized this is what I want to do. I’d rather do fewer films and focus on a film like an Apurva that gives me the ability to showcase my prowess, or something different in myself that I’ve wanted to do for a long time.”
Along with a more selective approach to acting, Tara also revealed she is preparing for a long-awaited return to her first love—music. “Then the other thing I want to do is focus on my music again, like it just came to me, I don’t know how or when, but I realized that I need to start putting my attention back to who I really am and what I really want to represent, and that is definitely music.”
Before becoming a mainstream film actor, Tara was well known in the performing arts circuit, particularly for her vocal talent and musical theatre background. “I used to do a lot of concerts. A lot of people don’t know this about me, but before I did Student of the Year 2, I was a singer, and musical theatre was my life. It is my life even now. But I did a lot of solo concerts in Bombay, and I really miss that.”
She revealed that plans are already in motion for her to return to the stage. “There’s a concert that I’ve been planning for the longest time… I literally haven’t spoken about it ever. The aim was to do it at the end of this year, which may or may not happen, because these are things that need a lot of preparation and planning, but live music, big concerts, gala evenings—these are things that I definitely want to put my energy into.”
With orchestras and teams already being assembled, the multi-talented performer confirmed: “This is definitely on its way.”
