The fan, Nisha Patil, a 62-year-old woman suffering from a terminal illness, had directed her bank to transfer all her assets to Dutt following her death. Reports from the time revealed that Patil had legally named the actor as the sole beneficiary of her estate. Speaking about the incident, Dutt shared simply, “I gave it back to her family.” Despite the magnitude of the inheritance, he did not hesitate to return the entire amount to her next of kin.

The news had made headlines in 2018, with many surprised by the gesture from the fan and equally by the actor’s response. Nisha Patil had reportedly admired Sanjay Dutt’s resilience and journey, and in a final act of admiration, had chosen to leave behind her wealth to him. However, Dutt’s decision to return the property underscored his respect for family ties and his personal values.
