In a surprising revelation, Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has opened up about a 2018 incident in which a terminally ill fan left him her entire property, reportedly worth Rs. 72 crores. The actor, however, chose not to keep any of it.
Sanjay Dutt confesses returning Rs. 72 crores inherited from dying fan; here’s why
During a recent interview with Curly Tales, Sanjay Dutt recalled the moment and how he reacted to the unusual inheritance. The fan, Nisha Patil, a 62-year-old woman suffering from a terminal illness, had directed her bank to transfer all her assets to Dutt following her death. Reports from the time revealed that Patil had legally named the actor as the sole beneficiary of her estate. Speaking about the incident, Dutt shared simply, “I gave it back to her family.” Despite the magnitude of the inheritance, he did not hesitate to return the entire amount to her next of kin.
The news had made headlines in 2018, with many surprised by the gesture from the fan and equally by the actor’s response. Nisha Patil had reportedly admired Sanjay Dutt’s resilience and journey, and in a final act of admiration, had chosen to leave behind her wealth to him. However, Dutt’s decision to return the property underscored his respect for family ties and his personal values.
The incident once again highlighted the kind of connection Bollywood stars can have with their fans — emotional, deeply personal, and sometimes, truly life-altering.
Over the years, Sanjay Dutt has been no stranger to highs and lows — from his rise as one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars to personal and legal battles that played out in public view. Yet, he continues to win hearts with not just his performances but also his off-screen actions.
Dutt has delivered iconic roles in films such as Vaastav, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Khalnayak, Saajan, and Agneepath, among others. His journey from being the “bad boy of Bollywood” to a respected veteran actor has been nothing short of cinematic.
Currently, Sanjay Dutt is gearing up for a high-stakes box office clash on December 5, with two major films set to release the same day. The first is Dhurandhar, a political action drama also starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. The second is The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy headlined by Prabhas in dual roles, with Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan in key parts.
As both films generate massive buzz, fans can expect to see Dutt back on screen in full force — in roles as intense and unpredictable as the man himself.
