Medha Rana, a proud Bengaluru girl who first made waves on the ramp at the Prasad Bidapa Model Hunt, is now swiftly turning heads in Bollywood. She is now all set to star opposite Varun Dhawan in the much talked about Border 2. In a candid with Indulge Express, she opens up about her modelling roots, her entry into films, and her evolving style and fitness choices.
Border 2 actress Medha Rana opens up about her journey and road to films: “I want to be known as an artiste who can be moulded and shaped into any character”
Recounting her discovery, Medha shared, “I was pretty much scouted by Prasad Bidapa himself. This was a very, very random incident. I was at a shopping mall in Chandigarh at the time … I would have been, I think, 13.” Fate intervened when her father was posted to Bengaluru, where she soon began working with Prasad at 16. From there, her journey led her to Mumbai and into acting. She noted, “One thing led to another. I moved to Mumbai to take this career seriously as I was now sure I wanted to be an actor and then I bagged London Files. It happened through an audition, through a very random audition … before it was finally confirmed.”
Her acting credentials include the crime thriller London Files (2022), followed by the Netflix comedy Friday Night Plan (2023), and most recently, the Amazon mini‑TV series Ishq In The Air alongside Shantanu Maheshwari.
Talking about her upbringing in an army family and its influence, Medha reflected, “I definitely think that the upbringing and the way of life that we’re brought up with has a lot to do with how we just turn out to be … you grow up to become a more self‑assured person and therefore more confident to be in front of the camera.”
True to her practical sense of style, Medha added, “I am very, very casual. I am also very sporty … you’ll definitely see me in sneakers, jeans and maybe like a ganji or a crop top or a white shirt with a bag. I want to be known as an artiste who can be moulded and shaped into any character … I am honestly open to everything at the moment.”
Medha also shares lighter personal tidbits: her favourite Navaratri memory from her father’s posting in Ahmedabad, her self-comparison with “lauki (bottle gourd) because I really love lauki”, her desire to visit the Masai Mara, and her admiration for Emma Stone globally and Anushka Sharma in India. When asked about an actor she’d love to work opposite, she names none other than Shah Rukh Khan.
