Actor Ananya Panday has unveiled a new school curriculum aimed at promoting kindness, empathy, and emotional learning among children. Her digital initiative So Positive has partnered with NGO Slam Out Loud to roll out the ‘Kindness’ curriculum across schools in India.

Built around the principles of art-based education, the curriculum uses storytelling, poetry, and visual arts to introduce young students to social-emotional learning (SEL). Designed to make kindness a core life skill rather than just a concept, the modules encourage children to think creatively while learning to understand and manage emotions.

Ananya Panday actively features in the curriculum, narrating parts of her own experiences and guiding students through relatable lessons. Her involvement aims to bridge the gap between emotional learning and real-world relevance, especially in the context of a hyper-connected digital generation.

Speaking about the project, Ananya said, “Kindness has always been at the heart of everything we do at So Positive. It’s something I deeply believe in—not just as an idea, but as a way of life. I truly feel that if we can instil kindness in kids from a young age, it becomes second nature to them as they grow up. That’s why the Kindness Curriculum is so close to my heart. With everything going on in the world, I feel an even stronger need to help build a generation that’s more empathetic, emotionally aware, and simply… kind.”

The curriculum is being implemented through Slam Out Loud’s Jijivisha Fellowship and Arts for All programs, covering cities across the country. According to the team, over 2.5 lakh children will engage with the modules through school-based activities and digital platforms.

In addition to on-ground outreach, the full curriculum is also available on So Positive’s official YouTube channel, allowing parents and educators to access and use the content freely. The team is also working to host the curriculum on the Government of India’s DIKSHA Portal, which would further increase its national reach.

The launch comes at a time when educators and psychologists are highlighting the urgent need for emotional development tools in schools. As children navigate growing pressures both online and offline, programs like this one aim to build resilience, compassion, and interpersonal understanding from an early age.
